Gracie is now 13 years old!

For nine years she's eaten REAL, HOMEMADE FOOD, NOT commercial dog food. This blog shows how easy it is to be a DOGGIE CHEF and how healthy a home-fed dog can be.

Canned Salmon Dinner

Canned Salmon (wild caught); with bones; some skin removed

Whole Wheat Bread

Wasa Rye Krisp crackers

Chick Peas

Cottage Cheese

  1. Do you feed her the salmon with the bones? Does she eat the bones too or just leave them on the plate?

  2. Hi Garden Girl! When I feed Gracie canned salmon, I leave the bones in her food. The bones in the canned salmon I buy are very soft. I can easily crush them with the back of a spoon. I think they're a good source of calcium and I don't worry about Gracie choking because the bones are so soft and crumbly.

  3. Oh! I thought it was kind of weird that you would leave the bones in! Now I know, always trust the Doggie Chef!

  4. Do you feed Gracie twice a day?
I'm wondering if you make up a bowl and split it or if you make her different things for breakfast and dinner. Also, do you give her any treats...I'm betting you probably bake those too. Just wondering.

  5. Hi oldblackcatboo! Gracie eats two meals each day: breakfast and dinner. And yes, I give her homemade Doggie Chef Biscuit treats (see my blog post providing the recipe: ). When I have no time to bake Doggie Chef biscuits I substitute certain people treats. See my blog post about those treats: ). I give Gracie a biscuit (or a substitue treat) after breakfast (when she goes outside for a "bathroom" break), when she comes inside in the afternoon after playing/exercising, and another right before bedtime when I let her out for her last "bathroom" break for the day. I also feed Gracie other people food treats (see my blog post telling what other treats Gracie eats: .
